Udaipur is a beautiful and famous tourist place in India. It is also known as the “City of Lakes” which is surrounded by four lakes and is located in the southern most part of Rajasthan. It is located on the outskirts of Udaipur city. It was the royal residence of Mewar dynasty and was erected in 1884 and named after Maharaja Sajjan Singh who ordered its construction. It is an example of fascinating Rajput architecture with high towers, balconies and pillars.
City Palace Udaipur
City palace Udaipur is considered as the largest royal complex in Rajasthan. It is built on the banks of Lake Pichola in the year 1559 by Maharana Uday Singh. It was considered the centre of power where Maharanas lived and from where they administered the kingdom.
The lake Pichola is an artificial lake which is located in the heart of Udaipur and is considered as one of the oldest and largest lakes of the city. It attracts a large number of tourists because of its beauty. Its length is around 3 miles and width is around 2 miles and has a depth of 30 feet. It was built by Pichu Banjara in 1362 AD during the ruling period of Maharana Lakha.
Fateh Sagar Lake
Fateh Sagar Lake is one amongst the major tourist spots in the city Udaipur. It is the second largest artificial lake in the city and is known for its beauty. It is one amongst the four lakes of the city where people flock to enjoy boating on its blue water.
Eklingji temple is one amongst the famous temples of Rajasthan. It is located 22 km. away in the north of Udaipur and is dedicated to lord Shiva of the Hindu religion. It is established in 734 AD by Bappa Rawal. The shivlinga is garlanded by silver snake is a big tourist attraction.
Vintage Car Museum Udaipur
It is located at a few kilometers away from the city palace. The museum is a good collection of automobile models of vintage cars used by Mewar dynasty of Udaipur. The Mewar dynasty Rajput rulers were leading plush and luxurious lifestyles. The premises of the museum was originally a mewar state motor garage.
